And two talks on the Astrology in Action programme:
A magical approach to astrological practice As with other pathways of magical and spiritual practice, working with astrology may lead us to experience the world as alive and to develop a participatory relationship with the cosmos. How might we better understand, support and honour this? This talk will explore how we might think about our astrological practice from a magical perspective in viewing the chart preparation and consultation as ritual, in meeting and participating with the gods in our practice and in building a relationship with the planetary deities in our life. The session will include some experiential work.
Astrological and magical perspectives on working with time and tides Astrology offers us a rich understanding and practice for aligning our actions with the heavens as we apply our celestial art to electing when to carry out mundane or magical activities or initiate new beginnings. Working with perspectives from magical traditions we can align our lives and our actions more closely with the tides and the seasons and thereby connect more deeply with our inner and outer landscape. This talk explores both the imaginal and practical aspects of working with the cycles of the heavens and the earth and considers how this might lead us to a greater sense of participation with the cosmos.
September 27th-29th Cat is speaking at the 45th Astrological Association Conference. The conference is titled 'The Magic of Astrology'.
Astrological practice: A magical approach. This talk will explore how we might think about our astrological practice from a magical perspective in viewing the chart preparation and consultation as ritual, in meeting and participating with the gods in our practice and in building a relationship with the planetary deities in our life.
Astrological magic: A forgotten art? Whilst not a feature of the modern astrologer’s practice, the magical uses of astrology have a long history and range from the rituals and practices of theurgy and sympathetic magic to the creation and consecration of astrological talismans. We will explore some of these practices and ask what role there may be for them in our contemporary astrology.
